In my previous blog and video, I used one Davilane leather strap on three different Garmin watches to prove that a single strap can work across multiple styles. Many of you asked: “What about the other colors? How would black, brown, green, and orange look on each watch?”

So for this one, I took on a thorough “color-matching challenge.”

In this video, I paired all four colors of the Davilane Airborne 22mm leather strap (black, brown, green, orange) with three Garmin watches: fenix 5 Plus, Vivoactive 4, and Fenix 8 (43mm). All straps share the same genuine Italian leather, Quickfit design, and 22mm width – only the color changes. Here’s my honest take.

🎯 Why Garmin fans love changing straps

For Garmin users, a watch is more than a tool – it’s an extension of personal style. Garmin has earned the trust of millions worldwide with its precise GPS, exceptional battery life, comprehensive health monitoring (heart rate, Pulse Ox, Body Battery), and rugged durability. What many don’t realize is that Garmin’s 22mm quick-release lug design allows you to change straps as easily as changing clothes. A quality leather strap can transform a sports watch into something business-ready, casual, or vintage in seconds.

That’s why I enjoy experimenting with Davilane straps.

To keep things consistent, I used the same three watches:

🎨 Color by color breakdown

Here are my subjective thoughts after pairing each color with all three watches.

🖤 Black – The safe bet
Black never fails. On the Fenix 8, it looks almost factory-original. On the Vivoactive 4, it’s clean and sharp. On the fenix 5 Plus, it’s solid and professional. If you only buy one strap, make it black.

🤎 Brown – Vintage charm
Brown leather brings warmth and a classic feel. The fenix 5 Plus + brown combination was a pleasant surprise – it gives the old outdoor watch a “vintage explorer” vibe. On the Fenix 8, brown is still fine, but black works better. On the Vivoactive 4, brown feels mismatched – sporty and vintage don’t blend well. Brown is recommended for fenix 5 Plus owners.

💚 Green – Outdoor military style
Green is a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts. The Fenix 8 + green combo is a perfect match – it highlights the watch’s rugged DNA. The Vivoactive 4 + green is also surprisingly good, adding character to the sporty design. The fenix 5 Plus + green looks natural too. Green is my top “second choice” recommendation.

🧡 Orange – Bold and fun
Orange is the most challenging color. It’s bright, loud, and not for the shy. However, if you have a playful side, orange on the Vivoactive 4 is genuinely fun – sporty and energetic. Orange on the Fenix 8 is like “a tank wearing a party hat” – I don’t hate it, but I wouldn’t wear it daily. Orange on the fenix 5 Plus is too noisy – pass.

🏆 My final picks

After trying every combination, my personal choices are:

• Fenix 8 → Black (most harmonious, factory-level match)
• fenix 5 Plus → Brown (vintage charm, perfect together)
• Vivoactive 4 → Green (surprise winner, full of character)
• Honorable mention: Orange on Vivoactive 4 – fun award

Of course, this is just my opinion. Your wrist size, skin tone, and daily style may lead you to a completely different favorite.
